Name:  Kaycee.

Age: 19.

Location: Victoria, Texas.

Profession: Working until I can join the Police Academy

How do you identify and what pronouns do you use?

She/Her.

Are you openly LGBTQ+? If so, when did you come out and how did your family and friends react?

I am openly lesbian in a relationship with a FTM. I came out at my graduation dinner in front of everyone I love and it was very mixed emotions. My father's side took it so well but my mother is a different story.

For you, what’s the best thing about being LGBTQ+?

Being about to finally understand and be comfortable with who I am while also being able to be open about it.

Who from the LGBTQ+ community inspires you and why? 

My best friend is a local drag queen in my old town and he* is the one who helped me understand who I am more.

 

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing LGBTQ+ people in 2019?

New laws being imposed in the US to take rights away from LGBTQ people including medical care.

What advice would you give to other LGBTQ+ people who might be struggling?

That things do get better and that everything in life sometimes just takes time but it doesn't mean you failed, it just means you're waiting to succeed.

If you could speak to your younger self, what would you say?

I would tell her everything is going to be just fine even though I didn't realize it then I wouldn't change a thing looking back now.

, ran out of Austin, is a donation ran center that does all sorts for the LGBTQ+ community including free STD checks, and LGBTQ rand doctor visits.
