The queer things we’re looking forward to in 2026

A lime green blog header graphic with bold navy text reading "Queer Events to Look Forward to in 2026." The image features three celebrities: Kristen Stewart on the left, Joe Locke at the top centre, and Charli XCX on the right. Surrounding them are colourful illustrated icons, including a megaphone, a protest torch, a laptop with queer stickers, and a cluster of placards reading “PRIDE,” “QUEER AF,” “GAY & TIRED,” and “PROTECT TRANS KIDS.” The graphic has a playful, activist-inspired style.

And just like that, we’ve done another full year around the sun. Thankfully, 2026 has lots of great queer stuff in the pipeline - we’ll take anything to soften the blow of the terrifying rise of fascism! From LGBTQ+ movies to international events and celebrations, here are just some of the many queer things to look forward to next year.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes out

On May 1, two of our favourite fashion divas make their return in The Devil Wears Prada 2. How will Miranda fight to keep Runway relevant in a world no longer reading print media? And more importantly, has Andy finally got rid of her waste-of-space boyfriend?

It’s the return of LGBT History Month

February brings with it one of the most important modern history lessons. Each year, LGBT History Month celebrates and educates the world on important queer figures who have been erased from the narrative. Whether it’s activists or medical pioneers -  this is always one of the biggest events in our queer calendar. Keep an eye on our blog for more info.

Kristen Stewart makes her directorial debut

After almost a decade of work, Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut is set to make a splash in January. The Chronology of Water (based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir) sees Imogen Poots play a competitive swimmer navigating childhood abuse, motherhood and bisexual identity.

Pride is back, baby!

You can’t make a list of queer things to look forward to without mentioning Pride. Whether you’re heading abroad for a Pride overseas or celebrating more locally, there are plenty of ways to mark the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. Manchester pals - there’s already a community -run pride in development!

Heartstopper Forever is released

Instead of a final season, this coming-of-age romance will finish with a feature-length film about what happened next to Nick and Charlie - A.K.A the love story we all wish we had growing up. Expect soppy scenes, queer music and of course, lots of LGBTQ+ representation.

There are tons of new LGBTQ books to read…

When the world will undoubtedly feel a little too much sometimes next year, at least we can dive into all the new LGBTQ+ books released in 2026. From real-life reflections by Shon Faye to the US version of Chloe Michelle Howarth’s sophomore story, which ones will make it onto our list of the best queer books ever written?

… and lots of queer music to listen to

Queer music has hit differently in the last few years (thanks, Chappell!) - and 2026 is no exception. Trans artists make up just some of the most anticipated albums released next year, while Charli XCX’s soundtrack for the new Wuthering Heights drops in Feb.
