Just Say I Do: Introducing Our New LGBTQ+ Inclusive Wedding Collection

There’s nothing better than a queer wedding. No, I’m not talking about the opening scene of Sex and the City 2, I’m talking about the joining of two amazing LGBTQ+ people committed to spending the rest of their lives together not-so-secretly pointing out other queer couples on the street.

However, when it comes to actually planning the big day, there isn’t much out there for queer couples, or even straight partners celebrating with an influx of LGBTQ+ guests! Sure, you can get phallic-shaped straws and banners that exclaim same boobs forever, but there aren’t many actual LGBTQ+ inclusive items out there for your wedding party.

This is something one of our customers, Eva, noticed when she reached out and told us that like everything else in this world, when she started planning her wedding party, everything was designed for cishet folk.

So, in the spirit of celebrating and supporting the queer community - and Eva’s love with her partner Adreanna - we worked together to create Rainbow & Co’s first wedding collection. Here’s a little look at what we came up with!

The Story Behind the Collection

In the midst of searching for enamel pins to use as gifts for her wedding party, Eva noticed that everything she found on Etsy and elsewhere on the web was designed for cishet folk. She reached out to us and told us her predicament, and asked us if we could design something for the leadup to her big day that instead suited her queer wedding theme. And we were more than happy to oblige!

After some brilliant back-and-forth chat about what Eva had in mind - and how we could then sell these gifts to other customers throwing an LGBTQ+ wedding - we came up with three unique designs.

Note that we went with the American spelling of ‘honor’ for two of our designs since Eva is based in the US. However, if our other customers like our new pins as much as we do, we’re on track to make some more with an 'honour' version at a later date. As for the tote bags, it’s up to you to decide which spelling you fancy for your wedding celebrations!

The Rainbow & Co LGBTQ Wedding Collection

We’re pretty proud of the designs we’ve come up with for our new collection. All three of these designs are available on enamel pins  and tote bags, giving you the chance to make your day exactly how you’d imagined.

Maybe you’ll use an enamel pin to replace a traditional corsage? Or maybe you’ll give out some tote bags as favours for your hen do? The possibilities are endless!

Gay of Honor

If there’s one group of people organised enough to plan a wedding, it’s lesbians. Show your ‘Gay of Honour’ just how much you appreciate them with a gift in this design decked out in the stunning shades of the lesbian pride flag - and a glittering diamond front and centre. It’s just enough to show them how valuable they’ve been by already knowing everyone for the seating chart, without taking away from the real star of the show!

They of Honor

Aside from paying for an open bar, a great way to make sure your day is about inclusion for all wedding guests is with our ‘They of Honor’ design. Using the bold hues of the non-binary pride flag and finishing off with white glitter for that extra sparkle, a wedding favour like this is a unique way to show appreciation and pride for any non-binary VIPs who have shown up to celebrate your big day!

Pridesmate

If there’s one thing for certain about a queer wedding, it’s going to be memorable. The best way to lean into this? Our iconic Pridesmate design. Celebrate queer love in full colour with a snazzy shield inspired by the iconic Gilbert Baker Pride Flag and two clinking champagne flutes cheersing to a Queer Ever After. This inclusive Bridesmaid alternative will also make sure every member of your wedding party is included in the toast!

Other designs coming soon!

We loved working with Eva on our first Wedding collection so much that we’ve even been thinking about taking it further; keep an eye out for some fun wedding shirts in the future designed for your ‘I Do Crew’, ‘Hubby’, ‘Spouse’ and ‘Wifey…’ Because, like most things queer people do, our extended wedding range will be a lot more inclusive (and a bit more classy) than when the straights say ‘I do!’

Looking for something specific but can’t find anything like it online?

As an independent queer business , we know how hard it can sometimes be to find yourself represented online and in-store. So, if like Eva, you’re after something that hasn’t been designed yet or you’ve spotted a queer-shaped gap in the market, please get in touch !
